In May 2019, the Offensive Weapons Act 2019 (the ‘OWA’) was passed into UK law. This piece of legislation restricts the sale of knives and corrosive substances, especially to under-18s, in response to an increase in serious crimes involving knives and acid attacks.
Some provisions of the OWA apply to the way in which retailers can sell certain bladed products online and deliver these items to their customers. As a result, Forest Skills Ltd are required to:
We only have a limited number of products that fall under this legislation, so our checks are undertaken manually. You will be able to place your order but will receive an email from us with instructions on how to provide additional proof of identity (for example, you may be asked to provide a photograph of your passport or ID card).
Your order will be shipped using an age verified delivery service, for which there is a small additional charge. Your parcel will be marked with a sticker to ensure that the carrier is aware that there’s a bladed item inside.
Orders containing age-restricted products will require additional ID verification at the point of delivery. Please be ready to provide identification to the courier (for example, your passport, driving license or other valid ID card) to confirm that you are the same person who placed the order.
As you will need to verify that you are the same person who placed the order, you will need to be at the shipping address at the time of delivery. If you are not at the shipping address at the time of delivery, the courier will contact you to arrange another time slot for delivery.
If the courier is still unable to deliver the item and you are not able to be contacted, the item will be returned to us as being ‘undeliverable’, at which point your order will be refunded in full.
As you will need to verify you are the same person who placed the order, unfortunately the courier is unable to leave age-restricted items with another member of your household, or with a neighbour. The courier is also unable to deliver the item to a collection point or to a locker.
Please note that if you request delivery to an alternative address, you must be present at the alternative address at the time of delivery in order to provide proof of identification
