Forest School CPD CourseThis CPD course for forest school leaders & assistants will focus on the practical & craft skills that you might typically be expected to use during your forest school sessions.
Day 1 will cover on practical skills including;
- Risk assessing woodlands
- Tool use & maintenance
- Fire lighting, management & use
- Ropes, knots & lashings (including rope storage)
- Putting up tarps & parachutes
Day 2 will cover on the play & craft side of forest school, such as;
- Woodland games
- Natural art including making dyes
- The magic of sticks
- Felt making
- and more…
Where is the course being held?
The course is being run at our 24 acre mixed woodland & heathland venue is located just outside Goostrey in Cheshire, just 3.5 miles away from Junction 18 of the M6, providing the easiest of access while retaining that wilderness feeling. Venue directions will be emailed to you after you have purchased your place(s) on the course.
How long does the course last for?
This two day course starts at around 09.30am and runs until around 4pm on day 2. Please don’t be late on the first day as we won’t be at the meeting point after this time.
What do we need to bring?
Please bring with you everything on our overnight kit list including a tent/hammock & tarp. You can view our kit list here; Kit List page.
What about food & drinks?**
There will be a camp fire with a kettle simmering over it & we will be providing tea, coffee, sugar & biscuits during the course. Food will be provided on this course, but please do also bring snacks with you. If you have specific dietary/allergen requirements, please let us know as soon as possible after booking your place(s) on the course so that we can make arrangements to accommodate these.

- This course is only open to qualified Level 1, 2 & 3 forest school leaders.
- We regret that wheelchair access to the woods is not currently possible.
- No dogs are allowed at the venue at any time.
A Consent & Medical Declaration Form is required for each person attending the course. These need to be returned to us at our office no later than 48 hours before the start time of the course. These will be emailed to you once you have booked your place(s) on the course, but you can also download the forms from this page. If you have specific dietary/allergen requirements, please let us know as soon as possible after booking your place(s) on the course so that we can make arrangements to accommodate these.
