We’ve some fantastic news to share today.
We’ve been rather busy in the office over the last month getting some new things in place, including a new (slight) diversification for Forest Skills Ltd. This has resulted in us being a little quiet on the blogging front as well. Hopefully you’ll agree that it’s been worth it!
As of today, Forest Skills Ltd is now a recognised and registered provider of several Ofqual regulated training courses. This is in addition to the AQA UAS courses that we run as well.
What this means in practice is that we will shortly being releasing dates for the following courses:
- Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering (QCF)
- Level 2 Award in Activity First aid (QCF)
- Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis (QCF)
- Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (QCF)
- Level 2 Award in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation (QCF)
- Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (QCF)
- Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (QCF)
- Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (QCF)
- Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (QCF)
- Level 3 Award in Outdoor First aid emergency Action RQF)
- Level 3 Award in Outdoor First aid (RQF)
These courses will initially be lead by our chief instructor, Chris Garland, who is also a British Heart Foundation Heart Start course instructor & community first responder. In the coming months Ash Clinton will also be leading these courses.
We will be offering these regulated courses to other Forest School and Bushcraft establishments throughout the country as well. Our thinking is that as we have years of experience in teaching in woodland environments, we are well placed to tailor some of these courses to those who work in natural environments, such as forest school leaders, bushcraft & survival instructors as well as forestry workers and tree surgeons. The latter can be catered for as Chris is also a certified advanced industrial climber and tower rescue specialist.
So, if you need to refresh your first aid or food safety training, or you just want to learn a new skill, get in touch with us now: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Spreading our wings.
Some of you may have noticed that we had a stand at a small fair in Gloucestershire last weekend. Well, that was our first event in the county, but we’ll be making a bigger splash soon as we start running courses from our ‘new’ woodland venue just outside Stroud in the coming months. The woodland itself is teaming with wildlife, including fallow, roe & muntjac deer as well as foxes and badgers; our tracking courses at this venue are going to be something else!
We’re really excited about this new venue; not only can we increase the number of courses that we run every year, but we can also offer a different environment to you!
The Forest Skills Team.
We’re pleased to introduce a new member to the Forest Skills Team; Luke Sapsed. Luke hails from Gloucestershire (which is handy for our new venue!), and brings with him a wealth of experience, having worked alongside many leading names in the world of bushcraft and tracking.
You can read more about Luke on our Team Page, but as he puts it, “I look forward to guiding you on your journey into the amazing world of Bushcraft and Ancestral Living skills, enabling you to feel more at one with nature”.
We look forward to welcoming you on a course very soon!
